Earlier on, Myolie Wu was being defeated by Linda Chung at 2008 Metro Hits Awards, and lost the Best Female Newcomer award. But many netizens have expressed strong support for Myolie, pointing out that this award should have gone to her instead. After getting wind of this, Myolie thanked them for the support, but she felt that everyone needs to have some friendly competition.

In recent years, TVB has been heavily promoting their contracted artistes to become singers as well. Those under heavy promotions include Wong Cho Lam, Bosco Wong, Linda Chung and Myolie Wu, and they are entering into the music industry this year as newcomers. In a couple of days, TVB will be holding the 2008 JSG Top 10 Awards ceremony, and is now having a headache over how to distribute the newcomer awards among the 4 artistes.
JSG's Most Popular Newcomer award will be divided into the male and female category. The Gold Newcomer Award has William Chan having the loudest support. Actually William had once appeared in a band, Sun Boy'z, back in 2006, and strictly speaking, he should not be considered as a newcomer. As for the Silver and Bronze awards, it will be a fight between Bosco Wong and Wong Cho Lam.
In the female newcomers' category, Linda Chung and Myolie Wi will also be the hot favorites to get the Gold Award. But not long ago, Linda had already defeated Myolie and obtained the Best Female Newcomer Award at Metro Hits Awards. It's believed that in order to 'appease' Myolie Wu, there is a chance that TVB might present her the Gold Award as compensation.
In addition, there were netizens whom pointed out that Myolie Wu deserved to get Metro's Best Female Newcomer Award more than Linda Chung. Most importantly, it's whether you like your job or not. If you like it, no matter how much hard work, you'll still do it. If you don't like it, then don't force yourself and waste your youth."
